"Where are you going tonight, dressed like that?" Ben’s father, Rodger asked Ben as headed towards the door.
"I already told you, just meeting up with an old friend."
"Right, just an old friend. Let me guess, this old friend is a pretty lady?"
"Yea, but it’s not like that," Ben said even though he did want it to be like that, but he really didn’t think Juliet was going to consider this a date. This was just him showing her around since she just moved here.
"Don’t you think it’s about time you find yourself someone and settle down? I’m not going to last much longer, would hate for you to be alone."
"Don’t talk like that, Dad." Ben took one more look at himself in the mirror before opening the door. He really wasn’t dressed up that much; he usually wore dress shirts and pants. Just tonight he wore one of his best shirts; a black one with gray pin stripes and a pair of black dress pants topped off with a matching black suit jacket. So maybe this would be a bit too much, depending on what she was wearing. But really, it was nothing, he just wanted to look nice and impress her.
Ben arrived at her doorstep at exactly eight; he was never one to be late. He held the flowers behind his back and knocked on the door with his free hand.
